On 7 January 2025, at 14:00, in Room 325, the University of Latvia's Faculty of Education Sciences and Psychology (UL FESP) hosted the event “Get to know FESP researchers!” This was the first such event, aiming to facilitate introductions among researchers at UL FESP, showcase ongoing studies and their outcomes, highlight research directions within the faculty, and explore opportunities for collaboration in the development and implementation of interdisciplinary research projects.
The event was attended by researchers from various fields, including educational sciences, psychology, sports science, and arts studies. Participants presented individually or as representatives of research groups. They shared updates on current research projects conducted both within the faculty and externally, discussed newly launched studies, ongoing projects, and those nearing completion. Some researchers chose to highlight their specific research areas, reflecting on past achievements and outlining plans for future development. Individual participants or group representatives gave 5-minute presentations about their work and upcoming goals. Each presentation was followed by a discussion, offering the opportunity to ask questions.
The event also featured a presentation on the SRP “Education” project “Elaboration of evidence-based solutions for effective professional competence development of adults and assessment of the transfer of its results into practice in Latvia” by the project participant and leading researcher Dita Nīmante. She emphasised that the project's biggest challenge is to address not only educators but also adults from other fields by creating an evidence-based framework and practical solutions for effective professional competence development and its transfer to practice. The project aims to offer tools for evaluating the impact of professional development on practice in Latvia.
